Berzé-le-Châtel Castle

Interesting
Perched on a rocky spur rising above the surrounding vine-covered hillsides, the feudal castle of Berzé-le-Châtel long remained impregnable. Its various terraces still demonstrate the extent of its defensive system. This ancient fortress of southern Burgundy is mentioned as early as the year 991. Lovely terraced gardens with a colourful vegetable patch, fruit trees, hornbeams, and yews clipped into chess piece shapes.
