Initiated in 1997 by the Saône-et-Loire regional government, the Voie Verte (Green Way) has been a great success and now runs for some 800km through Burgundy. A cyclists' paradise, it runs through unspoilt countryside (much of it is disused railway line), among vineyards and along towpaths (all signposted dedicated routes). Those wanting more can continue across the wider Tour de Bougogne à vélo® cycle path network.
