Château de Bouges

This elegant abode, tucked away in the countryside, comes as something of a surprise after the forest of Levroux. In 1759, Count Charles Le Blanc de Marnaval began building the Italianate residence, which was subsequently owned by Talleyrand. Its impressive banquet hall and trompe l'oeil decoration, landscaped grounds (80ha/200 acres), immaculate formal garden, fine antiques and gracious architecture transport visitors back to the 18C.
