Châteauroux

Châteauroux
The Essential
The capital of the Bas-Berry feels like a metropolis in the heart of this intensely cultivated region. From the bridge - Pont Neuf - straddling the River Indre, the Prairie St Gildas, the castle and Old Town, which has preserved its medieval layout, can be seen. To the north, on the other bank of the Indre, is the elegant bell tower of the old abbey of Déols. To the south, the built-up area gives way to the Forêt de Châteauroux, one of France's largest oak forests and a pleasant place to stroll.
