Useful information : When to go...
When to go
Champagne-Ardenne may not be able to boast a Mediterranean climate, but the summers are hot enough for you to enjoy lakes and vast forests, which provide respite from the heat. Furthermore, numerous sites in Champagne are only open to the public in season. Don't miss the Flâneries Musicales de Reims, from June to August, which brings together big names from the world of music. Summer is also an appealing time to go boating on the Meuse, a good way to take in the austere beauty of the valleys of the Ardennes.
Autumn is relatively mild, but rainy (rather like spring). The vineyards become a hive of activity at harvest time, when the forests are also clad in their most stunning colours. The apple harvest in the Aube brings with it numerous associated events.
In winter, the temperatures can dip quite low, in particular in the Ardennes, with frost covering the landscape. This weather makes the region a charming setting for the Christmas period, the traditions of which remain alive and well.
