Proudly ensconced on its radiant harbour against a backdrop of often snow-capped mountains, Calvi is one of the most attractive marine sites in Corsica. Arriving by sea is a memorable experience: the citadel, on a headland that juts out between the Gulf of Calvi and the Gulf of Revellata, stands out a landscape shrouded in tranquility. Renowned for its lobster fishing, the "capital" of Balagne is a very popular resort, with its long beach hemmed in by stone pines that stretches out at the end of a vast bay. It is also a choice port of call for people on their boats, who can be assured of moorings reputed since Roman times.
