Saint-Claude
The Essential
Interesting
First and foremost, Saint-Claude occupies a magnificent natural site at the confluence of the River Bienne and River Tacon, best admired from Place Louis XI, which offers a splendid view. The city was once home to a very prosperous abbey, of which only the Cathédrale St Pierre remains, its Classical façade (18C) contrasting with the fortified apse. Its prime location in the Parc Naturel Régional du Haut Jura, its crafts tradition - pipes - and tourism keep this town buzzing.
