Former stronghold of Renault factories, Boulogne-Billancourt is changing fast. Seguin island and the Billancourt riverbank, left a wasteland since the car manufacturer departed in 1992, are now a major cultural centre. The Seine musicale, a huge sphere, covered in solar panels by architects Shigeru Ban and Jean de Gastines, was opened in early 2017. The suburb is also proud of its early 20C architectural and artistic heritage, as the Albert Kahn and the 1930s museums bear witness.
