Meudon Forest

Interesting
Comprising primarily chestnut, oak and silver birch trees, Meudon National Forest covers 1 150ha of a rugged plateau between Sèvres and Villacoublay. Crossed by the express road linking Paris to the Chartres motorway, the forest is no less popular a spot for walks. For example, the Pavé de Meudon was formerly a royal route created by the Grand Dauphin to connect Versailles to Meudon and now a forest trail. The Route des Gardes (D 181) was created on the initiative of the Marquis de Louvois.
