St Martin's Collegiate Church, Brive-la-Gaillarde

Interesting
On the ruins of two former churches devoted to the Spanish Saint Martin, who attempted to evangelise the population, a new, larger edifice was built in the 11C and 12C. Today, the transept, a chapel, small apses and 60 beautifully carved capitals that sport human faces and imaginary or real animals still remain. Some other lovely historiated capitals and a crypt, where the remains of early churches have been uncovered, are also worthy of note.
