Vosges
The Essential
Explore the passes and forests of the Vosges, breathe the region's clean air and taste its revitalising water, which is famed throughout France.
Start your trip with the main attraction: the Parc Naturel Régional des Ballons des Vosges, with its pastures, glacial cirques, lakes, wooded hills... From there, you will be able to make out the famous "blue line" that runs along Route des Crêtes. Tuck into the traditional meal, or repas marcaire, in one of the farms that double up as inns, before continuing onto Gérardmer, the so-called Pearl of the Vosges, which stands on the shore of a deep blue lake.
Then take in some of the charming little towns, which are mostly known for their high-quality productions: the famous Épinal prints or Clairefontaine stationery at St-Dié-des-Vosges.
