It was in this humble village on the edge of the Meuse that Joan of Arc was born on 6 January 1412. She is said to have had visions and heard voices ordering her to go and save France. The church, built around the time of Joan's birth, was transformed in the 15C and extended in 1825. Note the baptismal font, from the 12C, over which Joan was held. The house where she was born is movingly simple. Behind, the "Visages de Jeanne" Centre("Faces of Joan") presents her life, evokes what popular memory has retained about her and immerses the visitor in the medieval world.
