Ballon d'Alsace Road
The Ballon d'Alsace, at 1,247m/4,091ft, is the highest peak of the Southern Vosges Mountains. A footpath leads to the top and to a superb panorama of the Alsace plains and Black Forest, and even as far the Mont Blanc on a clear day. A road dating back to Louis XV allows you to pass the Col du Ballon pass to reach the Alfeld and Sewen lakes and commands a number of lovely viewpoints.
