Interesting
Lying on the border of the Rouergue and Quercy, the bastide town of Villefranche was built in 1252 by Alphonse de Poitiers, Count of Toulouse. It is a picturesque spot, sited among verdant hills at the confluence of the Aveyron and the Alzou rivers. On its main square is the 13C-16C Collegiate Church of Notre-Dame. Its grid town plan and stone and clay houses reflect its rich medieval heritage as a stop on the Compostela pilgrim trail.
