Lourdes Fort and the Pyrenean Museum

Interesting
Perched on a rocky outcrop overlooking Lourdes at the entrance to the seven Lavedan valleys, this fort and former residence of the counts of Bigorre in the 11-12C, is home to the Pyrenean Museum devoted to popular arts and folklore of the regions between Bayonne and Perpignan. One room is devoted to ''Pyreneanism''. In the chapel there are wood carvings, altars and wooden statues from the old parish church. On the esplanade, scale models illustrate Pyrenean architecture from Canigou to Luz-Saint-Sauveur and from Bearn to Asturias.
