St-Pierre de Carennac church

Interesting
The finest feature of this 12C Romanesque church is the doorway, on which clear and very structured scenes are depicted. The overall rigidity is disrupted only by Christ in a mandorla (almond-shaped aureole); He is shown in majesty surrounded by the symbols of the four Evangelists. This is considered one of the finest examples of a Romanesque tympanum and rivals those of Moissac, Collonges and Cahors.
