Place des Écritures square

Interesting
Inaugurated in 1991, set in a 13C architectural complex, the ground is covered with a huge replica of the Rosetta Stone (14 x 7m). Artist Joseph Kosuth sculpted this huge slab of Zimbabwe black granite in honour of Jean-François Champollion, who deciphered hieroglyphics through the Rosetta Stone.
