Notre Dame Chapel, Rocamadour

Also called the "miraculous chapel", this is considered the most holy of Rocamadour's chapels. Rebuilt in the Flamboyant Gothic style by the Bishop of Tulle, Denys de Bar, it suffered damage after the Wars of Religion and the Revolution, and underwent other works in the 19C. It houses the Black Virgin (12C), which has been highly venerated for centuries. A bell dating from the 9C used to ring of its own accord when miracles took place.
