Old houses of Saint-Cirq-Lapopie

Recommended
The narrow, steep streets are lined with half-timbered, medieval, tiled-roof houses and a few artist's boutiques (painters, engravers, ceramists). Most of the houses were restored by famous painters and craftsmen who fell in love with Saint-Cirq and the Lot valley. For example, the mariners' inn was the home of Surrealist poet, André Breton, while the current artists' residence (13-14C) is named after Pierre Daura, who sculpted the beams when he resided here.
