Armentières

Armentières
The Essential
The town, where Line Renaud (a popular French singer) sung to the Allied troops, boasts a fine town hall and belfry, characteristic of reconstruction in the 1920s in Flanders. Entirely destroyed during WWI, the Grand'Place was rebuilt from 1924 to 1934. The superb belfry has been a listed UNESCO site since 2005. After climbing up a hundred or so steps, enjoy the view over the town, Flanders, the Leie valley, the Lille metropolis and the Belgian countryside.
