MTVS - Musée du Textile et de la Vie sociale

This former spinning mill has an interesting collection of functioning looms from the 19C to the present day, as well as other period machinery. Beyond a room devoted to the tragedy of 1 May 1891, when gendarmes fired upon striking workers, is the great hall with its display of photographs and reconstructions of daily life: a hosiery workshop, the interior of a worker's home... Have a look at the rifles hanging in the classroom, symbolic of France's "revanchard" period (1870-1914).
