Colline de Notre-Dame-de-Lorette

Recommended
Capturing this hill was the principal objective of several offensives between October 1914 and September 1915. Over 100 000 soldiers lost their lives here. Sweeping the Artois plains with a ray of light, the lantern tower pays homage to them every night. The largest French military cemetery lies at its foot and around the vast basilica. The Ring of Memory, the Musée Vivant 1914-1918 and the Centre d'Interprétation Lens' 14-18 round off this memorial site of primary importance.
