Citadel

This citadel of Vauban, nicknamed "the useless beauty" (la belle inutile), due to the fact it was not of much use, at least not for protecting the city from Spanish troops, but rather only ever used to look out over the townsfolk. In July 2008, the citadel was designated a Unesco World Heritage Site as one of 12 major fortifications that Vauban built in France.
