Azincourt
The Essential
The name of this village in the Artois hills is synonymous with a famous episode of the Hundred Years War: here, on 25 October 1415, the English army led by Henry V crushed the much greater French army, commanded by the Connétable d'Albret, in the Battle of Agincourt. The Centre Historique Médiéval tells the story of the battle, which was a humiliating blow for the French and hailed as a feat of bravery and ingenuity by the English.
