An important example of the early Renaissance in France, the Hôtel Pincé is now home to an art museum. Based on the Ancient art collections of Turpin-de-Crissé (1772-1859), an artist from Angers and chamberlain to Empress Josephine, exhibits include Greek and Etruscan vases, and Egyptian, Chinese and Japanese artefacts, such as a series of engravings by Hiroshige, The Tôkaidô Road.
