Useful information : When to go...
When to go
In Vendée, there are no real extremes of temperature. If you are going for the coast, the best bet is to opt for summer, liable to satisfy those who wish to swim in the sea and take long bicycle rides. This is also the time of year that the street performances of the Festival La Déferlante take place in several seaside resorts. Inland, the mercury climbs higher, making walks in the shade of the trees in the bocage very pleasant… and the storms bring a welcome freshness.
Spring will suit you better if you are looking for peace and quiet, in particular for visiting Puy du Fou medieval theme park. The rest of the year, your stay will be subject to the unpredictable nature of the heavens and the frequent rain.
Finally, note that the habitual calm of the late autumn is interrupted every four years in Les Sables-d'Olonne, with the start of the Vendée Globe in November. An event not to be missed if you are in the area.
