Notre Dame Cathedral, Laon

Recommended
Begun in the second half of the 12C and finished around 1230, this is one of the oldest Gothic cathedrals in France. The very homogeneous façade is one of the finest (its towers were the pride of the presumed architect, Villard de Honnecourt). The nave with its vault divided into six parts rises up four storeys high. The attractive stained-glass windows and majestic statuary (redone in 19C) are worth a closer look.
