The Mother-of-Pearl and Marquetry Museum recalls that, in the 17C, the town of Méru was an important centre of craftwork made with mother-of-pearl. The reconstruction of workshops brings life to the presentation of a variety of objects: ivory dominos, mother-of-pearl buttons and a fine collection of fans. As a matter of interest, if you see fragments shining on the pavements of Méru, they are chips from mother-of-pearl shells, too small to be used to make buttons.
