Gateway to the Picardy coastline, Abbeville boasts a diverse heritage, from the Flamboyant façade of St Vulfran Church to the delicate ornamentation of the Château de Bagatelle, and is also a city of trade. Rebuilt after the Second World War, it presents town planning with lots of open spaces and a smattering of ambitious architectural accomplishments, such as the town hall and its modern belfry. The city is also a base for lovely excursions into Ponthieu and on the Somme Valley cycle path (véloroute).
