Church of Notre Dame de Royan
This church in reinforced concrete was built between 1955 and 1958 by Guillaume Gillet. Note how the chevet seems to bow as you look up - an effect accentuated by the 65m-high bell tower. In the remarkably lofty interior, illuminated by 500m² of stained glass, the triangular glass panel of the Virgin May in Baccarat glass is particularly impressive. The large hammered tin organ is the work of Robert Boisseau from Poitiers.
