Charente Archaeological and Historical Society Museum

In its exhibition rooms and garden, the museum boasts Prehistoric collections, Gallo-Roman mosaics, lapidary collections from the Roman era to the 18C, and regional antiquities such as earthenware, weapons, Limousin enamel and curios. Look out for the curious tiled Gallo-Roman tomb: it is 180cm/71" long and was discovered in 1971 at Champniers (10km/6.2mi to the northeast).
