Cassinomagus Archaeological Park

Recommended
214 million years ago a meteorite crashed into this region, creating a crater with an original diameter of approximately 21km. The impact created the curious Chassenon breccia, from which a unique stone, impactite, was subsequently quarried to build the Gallo-Roman town of Cassinomagus. The remains are spread over 300ha. In addition to the baths and archaeological site, the Jardins de Pline l'Ancien, fashioned into 25ha landscape gardens, present an array of the plants used by the Romans.
