This secluded village is perched high up in a bleak mountainous location overlooking the Vionène and the Tinée rivers. Its walls, slate roofs, and lanes which become paths running alongside gardens, and its canals give it plenty of character. The church boasts a 16C altarpiece of St Lawrence, while the chapel of St Bernard and St Sebastian features fine frescoes by Andrea de Cella and the Marcel-Kroenlein arboretum (6ha/15acres) is planted with alpine trees from all over the world.
