Rue des Teinturiers

From rue des Lices to rue Guillaume-Puy, this little pebble-paved street runs parallel to the Sorgue, which flows right through the streets here. It is lined with plane trees and a low wall, and you can still see a few of the big paddle wheels which, until the late 19C, operated the Indian factories where shawls were made. The clocher des Cordeliers (steeple) is all that remains of the convent, where Petrarch's Laura is said to be buried.
