Cavaillon

Cavaillon
The Essential
Cavaillon has only retained a few vestiges of its past, but its most moving memory is without doubt provided by the synagogue, which bears witness to the existence of the large Jewish community in the Comtat Venaissin region. Dominated by the Saint-Jacques hill on which the oppidum of Cabello once stood and where the town first developed, Cavaillon is home to France's largest wholesale fruit and vegetable market. It is also renowned for its melon, which has made the town famous around the world.
