Haute-Provence Geological Reserve

This is Europe's largest geological reserve, covering 2 300km2, encompassing 47 towns. Rocks, fossils and landscapes are a testimony to 300 million years of the Earth's history. Three routes have been devised to help visitors explore the reserve: the Tour du Massif du Blayeul, starting at Digne-les-Bains; the Route du Temps, between Sisteron and Beynes; and the Route des Hautes Vallées de l'Asse, starting at Barrême. A visit to the museum, Musée-Promenade de la Réserve géologique de Haute-Provence, is a must.
