The name Juan-les-Pins is inextricably linked to jazz. The town initially became a hub for nights out and music in the 1920s when the first American tourists arrived. Sydney Bechet went on to establish the festival in 1960. From the pine forest where the festival is held, it's just a short walk to a delightful 3km-long sandy beach. The seafront Promenade au Soleil is reminiscent of the Croisette in Cannes.
