When to go
Apparently Nice is blessed with a dream microclimate… and it is indeed a reality. The city is spared the extreme summer heat, thanks to a cooling breeze. From the Promenade des Anglais to the beaches, it's a short distance for the tourist masses to cross, so you will have to jostle to make a space for your beach towel.
You can just as well enjoy the heat of the sun in autumn, which is always very pleasant, except if a storm hits. But no need to worry; the sun soon reappears.
In winter, Nice keeps its promises: the weather is good, even hot, and the mimosa that flowers in early January adds a gentle and celebratory feel, which is soon picked up by the carnival that injects the city with its energy in February.
But our top tip is spring, when nature is bursting with life, the weather is fine – bar a few days of rain or mistral – and tourists are scarcer: the perfect conditions to get the most out of the city.
