Vallon-Pont-d'Arc

Vallon-Pont-d'Arc
The Essential
Between St Amboise and Aubenas, Vallon is not only famous for its nearby bridge, the Pont-d'Arc, but also for Chauvet's grotto, one of the world's richest prehistoric caves, on a par with Lascaux. Discovered in 1994, it is now the village's pride and joy and was replicated in 2014, the Caverne du Pont d'Arc in order to accommodate visitors. Vallon is a pleasant place to stay and an ideal starting point for magnificent canoe/kayak trips into the Ardèche gorges.
