Pont-d'Arc Cavern

Highly recommended
Some 36,000 years ago in Ardèche, men and women were creating a masterpiece. The Chauvet-Pont-d'Arc grotto, discovered in 1994, reveals prehistoric works of art, frozen into the calcite and clay. The Chauvet grotto, which features three characteristics rarely found together, age, quality of conservation and wealth of representation, is felt to be the world's first major artistic work known today. Its replica now places this masterpiece within reach of the general public.
