Drôme, harmonious and welcoming, attracts many visitors, not least those who come to contemplate the only Naïve architecture in the world and one of the main draws of this département: the Postman Cheval's Ideal Palace (Palais Idéal du Facteur Cheval), in Hauterives.
From Drôme des Collines to Drôme Provençale, and not forgetting the southern Vercors, gaze upon the view of the hilly landscape that heralds the start of the Forêt de Saoû, contemplate the medieval ramparts of Suze-la-Rousse, sample Montélimar nougat, as you inhale the fragrance of the lavender. You will get a sense of the balance reigning here between nature, home-grown specialities, culture and history.
With towns as inviting as Valence, with its large student population, the Drôme can definitely set you up for a fine holiday!
