Villa Lumière Town Hall

On the banks of the lake, this lavish villa symbolises the luxurious tastes of its Belle Époque guests. Built in 1896, it was the second work of Antoine Lumière, (father of Louis, the inventor of the cinematograph), after the Château du Clos in La Ciotat. The caryatids are the work of Lyon artist, Devaux, inspired by Pierre Puget's atlas figures in Toulon. The superb main staircase is seemingly attacked by an enraged bronze lioness.
