La Roche-sur-Foron

La Roche-sur-Foron
The Essential
Roche-sur-Foron, a free city in the 14C, is today an industrial town that continues to host major fairs. The medieval heart unfolds around the Counts of Geneva tower on a rocky spur and all that remains of the castle destroyed in 1590. After climbing 137 steps to the top, the view from its rampart walk embraces the Arve valley and the town, whose houses are depicted by tiled roofs, mullioned windows and embellished arches.
