The Corniches of the Bassin d'Oisans

Recommended
Leaving Bourg-d'Oisans, the small mountain roads cutting fearlessly into the rocky sides of the basin provide the most beautiful routes you will come across in the Alps. TheRoute de l'Alpe-d'Huez serves as an excellent introduction to the mountain landscape (Vallée de la Romanche and Vallée du Vénéon). Heading forValbonnais, you encounter theGorges de la Lignarre , which furrow deeply into the schist, before you either head into the Vallée de la Malsanne or climb up to theRefuge du Taillefer and Lac Fourchu (altitude 2 060m).
