Saint-Adresse, the "Nice of Le Havre" stretches along the beach of Le Havre as far as the Cape of La Hève. Its small port was entirely destroyed by a terrible tidal wave in 1369 and the village was rebuilt in the Ignauval valley. In the 20C, a Parisian businessman, Dufayel, decided to build a seaside resort here. Today, it features attractive villas with terraced gardens running down steep slopes and commands pleasant views over the port of Le Havre and the Seine estuary.
