There are no streets here, just blocks laid out inside what is an almost perfect circle between the rivers Rhine and Neckar. The centre of Mannheim is an example of urban geometry unique in the world. A cosmopolitan trading city and port with its own "Little Istanbul" around the market square, it has been almost entirely reconstructed. You will be struck by its impressive water tower and surrounding Art Nouveau garden and by its Baroque palace, the largest in Germany.
