Pommersfelden Castle

Also known as Weissenstein, the Baroque palace of Pommersfelden was built between 1711 and 1718 for Archbishop Lothar Franz von Schönborn. A visit reveals a handsome staircase with a ceiling depicting the Gods of Olympus and the four corners of the world. The traditional Renaissance artificial grotto, the Marble Room with its Rottmayr frescoes and the Elector's apartments with their painting-filled and mirrored rooms are also well worth seeing.
