The 6 000 exhibits in the Hesse museum, arranged over three floors, focus on prehistory, the applied arts from the Middle Ages to the 19C, and folk traditions. Exhibits include precious amber objects, Kassel silverware, porcelain from Fulda and coloured Bohemian crystal. The painted wallpaper on the second floor will move to the German Wallpaper Museum when it opens in new premises opposite the Hesse museum in 2022.
