Göttingen

Göttingen
The Essential
Situated in the south of Lower Saxony, Göttingen owes its name to its university. Founded in the 18C by George II of Brunswick-Luneburg, it is one of the most respected in Europe, a veritable seedbed of research laboratories and Nobel prize winners (45 since 1905!). In Göttingen more than one inhabitant in four is a student, so the lively and cosmopolitan atmosphere comes as no surprise.
