Schwarzenberg
The Essential
Perched on a rocky spur, the old town nestles around the castle and church. The fortress was erected in the 12C and converted into a hunting lodge for the Prince-Electors in the 16C. Nowadays it harbours the town museum. The Baroque church of St. George (17C) is depicted by a broad, generously decorated nave, an elegant pulpit, a wrought-iron grille separating the chancel from the nave and a delicately carved ceiling with cherub figures.
